Art world School is a professional art school established in 1997 in Portland and now located in NW Portland, close to the Beaverton, Bethany, and Forest Heights areas. It was established by Pacific Northwest artist Jiao Ying, who's works have been shown in galleries across the Northwest. She established the school to create a learning center for students of all ages who are interested in art to learn the skills they have also wanted to, to create the art they have always wanted to. The school stresses on the importance of helping each student develop a strong basic skills set by learning the fundamentals of art, concepts, and methods first. Students are trained in all mediums of fine art such as drawing, sketching, painting, color theory, and composition. Students also work extensively with different mediums such as various types of pastels, color pencils, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, and gauche. Professional instructors teach each student step by step with constant feedback to insure each student learns through the process of creating art and shows improvement with each class. The school soon expanded to include other types of art and mediums such as clay, arts & crafts, 3D art, sculpture, architecture, and mixed media. There was soon the addition of other programs such as seasonal camps (winter camp, fall camp, summer camp), an after school program, no school day program, more day and evening classes, as well as weekend classes. Class sizes are always small each student's lesson plan is personalized to suit the individual, their own level, and interests. The instructor gives each student individual attention, instruction, and feedback during each class to optimize the class quality.
